It's official, lovelies. I will be at Katsucon rather than Farpoint. Seeing as, looking back, I realised I had a chance to party with Salia as opposed to trying to drink myself stupid in the room after being generally screwed over, I'd like to not make the same mistake again.

Can I complain?

Course I can. It's my rant.

There is fscking Christmas stuff everywhere.

'Are you really actually surprised by that?' I hear you cry. No, I'm not. Doesn't mean it doesn't annoy the hell out of me.

I've verified this with other friends, and they are all in agreement: the holiday season starts when Santa shows up at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving parade. That is The Way It Is. That is The Way It Has Always Been, Forever Amen. Except when there wasn't a Macy's parade, obviously.

What is with this rubbish of malls, stores, restaurants, and even churches jumping the gun like this? I know, I know. Money. But you're going to burn people out on it, so by the time you get to a week or two before, no one's gonna care anymore.

Personally, I'm required to start Christmasing early, because at work I have to have something ready to roll to replace our glorious Thanksgiving section. Granted, I'm kind of detaching myself from it as much as possible mentally so I won't get all humbuggy when the season actually starts. But that's under the radar. It's not visible. I'm doing it now so it'll be there when it matters. And yes, I'll be doing stuff for the site once I know what it is. But buggered if I'm doing it now, you know?

Bah. Despite this, I do have a new food rec: the gingerbread milkshake at Red Robin. I know it's jumping the gun seasonally, too, but it's just so freakin' good.
