Warning -- depressing, and not even in the 'another year gone by' way.

So I got up at a decent hour this morning, especially for a holiday, and went to check on my animals. Scout -- the guinea pig I got before Clo, who's getting up there age-wise -- is now, like Clo was, rejecting food and water and being generally lethargic. Add also smelling rather odd, even for a pig.

I don't know why this is happening on a holiday. I don't know why, when I was told by the vet that Clo's death was a pre-existing disease and not my fault, Scout should get sick not so long after. I don't know what's wrong with me that I can't take care of my own babies.

I'm off to the emergency vet once again today ... at least it's relatively early in the day. But if something happens to Scout now, and she leaves Noriko alone all of a sudden, I don't know what I'll do. I can't start out 2007 losing someone else.
