'You'll find me in the grocery store at 9.30 in the morning, passionately fondling every potato ...' by Kara
They've been building away at their nests ... this time a lot closer to my door. Been trying to get maintenance or someone a bit braver than I I out to attend to this, with no luck. This morning I sprayed the nest before walking down the stairs, and proceeded to get the one hanging out there to fly away. I'll have to do something about it on the way home and once I get there, because I can't have this.
Okay, okay, guess I've gotta address The Important Thing. No more E3. Well, at least, not 'in its present form.' Whatever that means. Effectively dashing my dreams of ever sneaking in.
I've seen the phrase 'end of an era' pounded into the ground over and over -- in LiveJournals and forums and blogs and news stories and so on. And I know ... E3 was kind of the Geek Valhalla. Hell, I've wanted to be able to get in for a very long time now. I'm very sad, and I request a moment of silence for it.
There.
'End of an era,' though? I really don't know. Not even in fandom terms. It is a big loss to the industry, and it has become a Big Important Thing. But now that that gap's there, do you honestly think people aren't going to try to fill it?
I once saw someone on a forum say, re: my comics and their wanting to do a comic like this 'the right way,' 'Anything that's been done, can be done better.' Someone's gonna romance the sponsors and jump on this, and they're going to have a long, hard look at whatever went wrong with E3 (I still need the whole story, but I think we all do), and 'fix' it. And in three years, all the people bemoaning its death are going to be singing the praises of a new expo ... 'so much better than E3 ... probably for the best that it shut down.'
Just watch. It'll happen. Although for now, mourn it. Just take comfort in the fact that, in a couple years, you'll have forgotten your present sadness.
If you have been, kill it.

Kept saying wasps before. Meant hornets. Braindead for some reason. Probably for fear of the hornets.
