'I shoulda brought my box of Booberry to work.' by Kara
It's been one of those long, strange weeks. I keep meaning to do things, but they just don't happen. I probably have a lot of fansubs fans rather cheesed at me. Although, granted, I pulled double Vifam duty becaue our translator was on a roll. Sexy Commando (last one, I think) follows once I've burned some stuff to CD. Komatsu (my desktop computer at home) is a bit loaded. Which is my own fault.
The new wallpaper for February is up. And yeah, I went back to $5, because the theory of lots more people donating a buck and adding up ... really wasn't the case. Maybe if I sold pixels instead ...
(Yes, I am trying to raise money for a few things. No, not letting anyone know what, in case I don't manage to. There's an incentive - donate, and find out what it is you're donating to. Tempting ...)
And now, poll results. If you don't know what a Mary Sue is, it's basically an original character introduced into a fanfic, who is generally perfect or 'way cool' or some such. Usually is the object of many canon characters' affections, may serve as an avatar for the author, etc.
Example: Raven Serenity Riddle has transferred to Hogwarts from America in her seventh year. She is Voldemort's long lost daughter, Harry Potter's twin sister, and Draco Malfoy's One True Love. She is a dragon animagus, speaks parseltongue, and has a pegasus patronus. Oh, and she's in Slytherin by some sort of birthright. She will probably be elevated to a professorial position (DADA, most likely) about a month in, and may or may not try to commit suicide. Will also wear black and heavy makeup, and there's a high possibility of her being a princess from somewhere.
Other examples: Sailor Earth, Jack Sparrow's sister who kills Elizabeth and marries Will Turner, and that new blonde chick in Pretty Cure.
You get the idea.
Have you ever written a Mary Sue fanfic?
FIRST: I don't write fanfic at all - 31%
SECOND: I don't even know what a Mary Sue is - 21%
THIRD: Yes ... but I was a kid at the time and didn't know what it was.
I write fanfic, but never a Mary Sue - 8%
Yes, and I'm ashamed - 3%
Yes, and I still think it's brilliant/as a joke/accidentally - 1% each
OTHER: Ideas that weren't actually written down but still constitute a Mary Sue (I declare you innocent), an attempt to justify a Mary Sue by saying they killed people (I declare you guilty), a 'back in my day' claim, admission of a horrible self-insert (albeit not a strict Mary Sue), a claim that someone's written a ConScrew Mary Sue, and a bit of misplaced pride in possibly starring in one. CORRECT ANSWER: 'I once wrote a Billy Bob fanfic - on purpose!'

It's Friday? Really? I honestly would've had no idea had I not been told yesterday that Friday was soon to follow.
