'I can't flip my monkey!' by Kara
Con recovery is the absolute worst, and I don't just mean in my case personally. Just in general, it's a sucky thing to do. After a con like Otakon. (Sorry, Otalovers, but the concert was awesome on its own ... it didn't make the con awesome.)
Mainly I mean by way of work. See, thing is, I work for a news website, as I think everyone knows by now. This means that, even when I'm gone, newsletters go out. And as there are some things that other people in editorial simply don't know how to do, there's a lot of stuff I have to get done before I go. I know there are a lot of people who come home to piles of stuff on their desk or at their station, cursing me right now because they wish they could get stuff done in advance.
But no, this is not all true. We operate on a news feed, and we also get content from writers who aren't as obsessive about being a week ahead on deadlines as I am. So not only do I come back to their stuff (more often than not) to be formatted and spell-checked, I come back to a full news feed with stuff that needs to be sorted for the next few days. Sadly, the world will not give me current events in advance.
And you know, even if it did, I wouldn't tell you lot, because there'd be a lot of money in that.
So no ... I imagine that even in the middle of the week, there are several thousand people across the country going through what I'm going through. Eh ... actually, I'm not sure. How many of the attendees are still in high school and living with their parents?
Bah.
My doctor said the foot of my injured leg is gonna turn purple as the blood mobilizes. That's gonna look awesome.
If you have been, it cheats!

The weather's cooling off, gas prices are going down, and my foot hasn't turned purple yet. Seems like a good start to the day, but let's not push it just yet.
