Neo-Vader III
The text on the 'back of the page' turned out to be an easy effect to do in Photoshop. I create a lot of new crap from trying to make this comic look cool.
Now, since I continue to fare ill and won't be going in to work today unless I go in late, here's a list of things I observe from being sick:
1. Marx Brothers movies will help you on nights when you can't sleep. Best one to actually put you to sleep: Monkey Business. Possibly because it has the least plot of any of them. Worst one: Duck Soup, for the opposite reason. Also, the war at the end is loud, and you're gonna try to keep yourself awake to watch the mirror scene.
2. Dane Cook was right -- when you're sick, The Price Is Right will always be there, waiting to heal you.
3. Sitcoms starring those little Disney idols only make sense when you're exhausted and feverish. Although, scarily, Billy Ray Cyrus is a better sitcom dad than he is a country singer. Raven is a black version of a girl I went to college with, and the Phil of the Future theme song makes me more homicidal than 'Bananaphone.'
4. My average body temperature is about 96 or so. Having a 100.2 degree temperature is bad for me, whether it's late in the day or not.
5. Crackers, yogurt, and applesauce lose their novelty by the next morning, let alone this morning. I want my stomach to stop protesting against things like Chicken and Stars.
If you have been, I hope you won't be going away.

It took me forever to figure out how I wanted this page to look. I knew that I didn't want to draw it the usual way ... both stylistically and by way of detail or lack thereof. Being sick actually worked to my advantage. I got frustrated with one panel (which I thankfully didn't use here), inked it all scribbly-like, and tossed some paint blobs on it. Which looked idiotic 'til I sepia-toned it. Then I realised it was a pretty decent look, especially when I 'printed' it on the back of used parchment. Another idea I had, I couldn't explain. I realise now the word I was looking for was 'sumi-e,' so it's a good thing I couldn't develop that beyond the 'Gee, wouldn't that be cool?' phase.
