This afternoon I make one last run by the old place and make absolutely sure I haven't forgotten anything. I don't trust myself not to have.

So work's been hellish for me lately. Another editor (who also happens to be an old con-buddy) had surgery a month or two ago, and has had complications and thus has to be back in. About Wednesday, I was handed a big chunk of his daily stuff to do and told he'd try to be back at it on Monday. Then my manager got sick with what I'd had. 'Just a little cold,' he said. Well, you can see where this was going.

Yesterday was fscking madness. Ask Co-Writer or anyone, I was completely beat by lunchtime, and I wasn't even done. When I'm doing just my work before a weekend, it's annoying; when I'm doing the work of two, it's insane. Especially when you're dealing with things you don't normally handle and that, if they don't work right, you don't know how to fix. Looking back, I'm really hoping I gave decent enough instructions for when I was in Engrand.

Late yesterday, as I was getting to a stopping place, my manager came in and told me our other editor was still in the hospital needing more surgery. On the one hand, man, this is my buddy. I've been worried about him since I heard about this ... and I'd thought he was doing better, as he looked pretty okay at the last con we were both at. So I'm still worried about him. I know he does not exactly lead a stress-free life.

On the other ... well ... it's no fun for me. I feel guilty thinking this because I know what the surgery is for and it ain't exactly fun for him, either. Nonetheless, I'm just hoping I've got it in me to stay on top of all this and not cock it up.
