I think it may be very sad that I'm starting to enjoy the Harry Potter movies more than the books.

I went and saw Order of the Phoenix yesterday, finally. I'm more used to going to movies alone now. The Newtown Cinema is nice, it's easier than waiting for other people to be free, and also they have Uno's pizza. Still, having a person to talk to during it is more fun.

No, not going to spoil it. But I will say that there are certain things about the book I found utterly retarded. One is a major event, but I'm sure it could've been tweaked to look somewhat less so ... apparently not. Which was a big disappointment to me, seeing as it involved my absolute favourite character.

Besides that, though, they actually left out one of my biggest complaints. I didn't even miss it -- hell, things were better without it, because its existence (for those who know, it was the use or disuse of a present) just made Harry look like an even bigger fsckhead than he already is in the books.

I really can't stand Harry in the books, not a bit. But they fix him in the movies. I dunno if it's the fact that Daniel Radcliffe is becoming an even better actor as he gets older, or because the screenwriter finds book!Harry to be as much of a blowjob as I do. But I didn't dislike him in the movie. In fact, I liked him, and it's a hell of a feat making me like Harry Potter.

Some of the other actors are slipping in their 'old age' (Emma Watson really seems to be trying too hard), but for the most part everyone still doing well. The Phelps as the Weasley twins are at the top of my list for performance among the students. All the adults seem to love what they're doing and are doing a wonderful job, even the ones that just swing through (Emma Thompson as Trelawney, Warwick Davis as Flitwick, etc.). Imelda Staunton is a genius lady and I've always wanted to take Defense Against the Dark Arts from a Hostess Sno-ball. And Gambon and Rickman ... good God, they enjoy their roles. Especially Rickman, part of which I'm sure comes from the fact that JKR wrote the character with him in mind. I'm glad his part's going to be expanded in the sixth movie, because there wasn't enough of him in the fourth and there was barely enough of him in the fifth (as well as [SPOILER] where [SPOILER] [SPOILER]ed him when Harry accidentally [SPOILER]ed his [SPOILER] ... where in God's name did they find that [SPOILER]?????)

And of course, Crazy Gary Oldman, upon whose portrayal of Sirius Black I have the worst crush.

I'd say it pretty well made up for Deathly Hallows. And it gives me a little hope that the last two movies may make things all right.

My mind's been a nasty muddle over the last week or two. If I still can't think straight, I think it's high time I saw License to Wed. I can't believe I've ignored one of Robin-sama's movies this long. Curse you, conventions. As a matter of fact, I'm buying my ticket now.

Man, we've had some crazy weather. Dry for days on end, and then some seriously severe thunderstorms. But hey, I'm not complaining, we need the rain.

Course during the storm, one of our theatres caugth on fire. It was NOT lightening though. But it was a fire.

I don't really have anything to talk about - I really want to curl up in bed right now, but I don't think it's going to happen, what with work and all.
