'Hitting you in the face with cash!' by Kara
Allow me to explain.
For a few years now, I've been working with Rainbow Puppets, a puppet theatre that does children's shows locally at schools, libraries, and big events. They've also been to several out-of-state puppet festivals and up at Wolftrap a few times. I've done voices with them on Toyland!, The Search for Gold, and From the Sea to the Sky so far.
Really I'm not allowed to talk about this next project they're doing, especially not to locals, but I can say two things:
1. It goes up at the beginning of June locally
Basically, it's the biggest piece of hoke I've ever read, which is good. Well, in this case it is, because it's freaking hilarious, sort of skit-based (not linear, so people can wander in and out without feeling lost), and dammit, just fun. And I'm doing the voice of a mermaid. I was not expecting to. I was expecting to voice a fish. I suppose you could say it's a pleasant surprise.
Fortunately, I managed to schedule my recording session on Thursday night, so's I don't have to cancel my usual Tuesday outing or kill myself getting comics done of an evening. Means that every weeknight this week is either for being out all night or being in all night, but ya know, Sailor V.
If you have been, I can't wait.
No, it's not broken, but I've aggravated a tendon and stuff. Funny that. Wed morning I woke up and my foot was sore, but it seemed like a muscle thing, so I wrapped it and kept going, was mostly fine till yesterday when I was woken by the pain in the ankle.
Of course the crutches are now causing my left ankle to hurt since I've never really had strong ankles to begin with. So I tend to do a lot of crawling when I can. Or sitting and pointing as to where things are supposed to go.
I should be off the crutches by Tues, nothing long term, for which I am very grateful for.

This Thursday, I'm-a be a mermaid.
2. It has no redeeming educational value whatsoever

Moving in the rain sucks. You know what sucks more? Moving while on crutches. Try it sometime when you're moving down the street with minimal help and you can't put any pressure on your right foot at all.
