You have to aim for corners and hope they're still there. by Mich
I do hope she remembers to pick up a top-up card for me so I can add more minutes to my (UK) phone. I think I've got three minutes of talk time left.
And while she's frolicking I'm working. Since I graduated I managed to avoid working a Nutcracker, well specifically the school productions. I wouldn't mind working a professional one, that could be fun. The ones I get stuck with are put on by some local dance companies.
What's interesting is I likely would have ended up working this one regardless this year, but because of some politics within the organisation, the folks who usually work this (BGE folk) won't come near it (cause words were said, and the main person dealing with it all has washed her hands clean of the ballet folk). WM still had my phone number (big surprise, I had just emailed my resume to the TD for references) and I agreed to come work it.
Man, this thing is soooooo disorganised. If this were a Busch show I would've been a bit panicked, of course I could care less right now. I just sit up on the fly rail and ignore the world and do the cues I'm told to do. Dave's happy, my boredom is meaning his fly rail is getting a real thorough clean.
And then last night they're tree broke. The point that holds it snapped and so the tree plopped to the ground while all the wiring stayed in the air (we snapped through some Christmas tree lights even). Guess who happened to be the only person on the crew capable of sewing well enough to be trusted to fix it? That's right, me. No dinner break for me, I get to sew between shows instead. Yay.
For the specifics, the webbing tore loose of the rest of the tree and I had to resew the webbing to the tree. Fun times.
The Mich grumbles.

And Kara is having a blast over across the pond. Debunking things that claim to be American and really aren't, seeing Doctor Who exhibits and partying with friends.
