'Her neckhole is only barely wide enough to accomodate me.' by Kara
So ever since yesterday, I've been hearing random Big Ben chimes in the office. I was wearing my headsets at the time to listen to one of my podcasts, so I didn't pay much attention to it. Maybe someone brought in an obnoxiously loud alarm clock. Didn't know, didn't care.
Right now, I'm working without my headsets and ... I started hearing it again. Well, either I was going mad, or something really interesting was going on down the hall. I figured I'd test the second before the first.
It's a front door chime. Why do we have a front door chime in our office all of a sudden? We don't have a lot of comings and goings. We're an internet company. We have no front desk. There's really no opportunity (or reason) for face-to-face customer service. The most we ever get by way of visitors is the mailman, and even so, our mailbox is right inside the door.
I went down the hall and asked the fellow down the hall (one of the newer employees, nice older guy who handles office supplies as part of his daunting job of keeping us organised) what gives. As he was trying to stop the damned thing from belting out Great St. Mary's favourite tune every time he cracked the door, he informed me that people were just walking in. He didn't say who or what, but I got the impression that it was pretty well people who weren't meant to be there, as they went to the poor girl who's got the most visible office.
There's very little in this world that disconcerts me more right now than knowing that my casual, laid-back office is going on 24-hour lockdown with emergency door chimes. (Now, this also involves an exterior doorbell, so I suppose that's understandable.) I do believe I'm going to poke around to see who or what this was. I am sure someone will tell me; pretty sure they'll humour me. I just wanna know what sort of new paranoia I should develop.
Back to work with me. Too much to do, far too much. If you have been, that's not nice!

Well, the MarsCon crunch has gotten a bit crunchier. Only one show this weekend, on Saturday, so please for the love of God come see us perform. It will be a fun night for all, and this show went over really well at RavenCon.
