'First Zonder of 2009!' by Kara

Not a big party at my place. Can't do 'em -- they aren't kind to me, and thus aren't fair to anyone else if I do go. But I had two people over who were otherwise plan-jilted. They brought me food, I made 'em drinks, we watched the 1996 Doctor Who movie (takes place at New Year's, you see) and played a vaguely brutal drinking game to it, then marathoned some GGG. Which never got the drinking game pinned to it as I sort of wanted them to take in what's going on.

Before midnight, the magic of the Interwebs let me chat with my buddies in Engrand (the ones I hung out with the Christmas before this past) and our friend in China.

Both of the aforementioned guests are now asleep on my couch, hopefully in a good mood. I can throw a mean con room party, but I think there's something to be said also for being able to supply a low-key silly evening to people who find themselves unexpectedly washed-up for plans. Sometimes I regret my inability to handle big noisy events, but right now, not so much.

I can get my fill of social carousing at cons ... for now, I'm just glad I can fall over asleep at liberty.
