'A few more pounds and you won’t have to use your rape whistle.' by Kara
(Interesting trivia from the chick who used to run Robin-sama's biggest fansite -- Hook was originally supposed to be a Broadway musical starring, I believe, Tommy Tune. The book and three songs got written, the three being the one the kids sing in the play in the beginning, the lullaby Peter's daughter sings, and a third one whose tune became the movie's main musical motif. Apparently Spielberg realised that maybe he was about to produce a Really Bad Idea, and decided the story might make a better movie. For this, we thank him.)
Anyway, as fun as the movie is, I realised today that I can't actually watch it anymore. I can try ... but I fail. Why?
Because of fuckin' Rufio.
Yeah, Rufio.
Because NOW RUFIO IS GODDAMN ZUKO AND I CAN'T UNSEE IT.
No, really. If you don't know, I mean literally, he is played by the same person. After 15+ years, he sounds exactly the same, and I've noticed that he even somewhat looks/moves like him. I think it's that glare.
Don't believe me?
Here's the food fight scene from Hook. (If you're in a rush, the majority of his talking starts at 2:40.)
And here's a clip from Book 3 of Zuko rehearsing a speech where he -- well, if you don't want a spoiler, can't say.
So why did I use a spoilery clip bootlegged from an animation test at New York ComicCon? Because it was the only extended clip of Zuko speaking that I could find on YouTube. Literally every other video my search turned up was a fanvid set to Linkin Park.
Yup, they're both Dante Basco. Yup, he was born the same year as Co-Writer (which means he is six years older than I am). Yup, he still sounds the bloody same. So now I can't watch him in Hook without laughing like a fool because I'm waiting for him to whack a cup of jasmine tea against a wall.
If you have been, see?

So Hook was on TV this morning. TBS is really great for sticking on movies I've been forgetting to rewatch. Granted, I woke up fairly late in the movie, but whatever, I got to watch a bit while I was trying to regain consciousness.
