Let's take a closer look at that phrase for a second there, shall we?
IN line to SEE JAM Project. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I'd be saying those words outside of making a special trip to Japan. It's something I've always wanted to do, but never thought I'd have the opportunity. Now it is here, and I can't contain myself. I can't wait.
To those who made this possible I wish to extend a most sincere thank you for all the effort it must have taken to do so. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience and I'm going to make the most of it. All the favors I never cashed in from friends will be paid back in this weekend if I have my way. but thats getting ahead of myself. I truly hope that tomorrow night, this concert rocks my socks off...and I'm sure it will.
If you're there at the show, look for me. I'll be the one with the long chin whiskers, and the mass of hair twitching about near the front of the stage, thrashing my damndest to the awsome music we're about to hear, and singing along to 90% of the songs.
Other than that, my expectations for the con are minimal. I'm hoping to meet up with the Anime World Order folks to say hi and thank them for a cool show, and have a good time with my friends. get a few things signed by some of the guests if possible (like Tony oliver) and maybe give the dealers room a once over. That's it. Hell, I may even leave saturday night if I feel like it, since the major reason I'm going to the con will be over friday night.
But Oh....for those three hours....I will be in another world. And I want you all to come along with me.
If you aren't there, feel free to hitch a spiritual ride....
...because if satelites can pick up burning passion, mine will be visible from space, as well as showing a small group of people around me glowing fiercly too.
Resistance of 'Yusha Oh Tanjyo!' is FUTILE!!!
Neo-Vader III
See you at the con and such.
Looking forward to seeing people at the con. If I don't run into you, apologies in advance ... I'm getting e-mails out of nowhere from people I haven't seen in years who somehow picked just the right year to ask if I'm going to Otakon. (Including, holy crap, my college roomie Kris, who has claimed 'former roomie rights' and may thus be kidnapping me at some point.) Yeah ... even not counting the actual work I'll be doing, it's gonna be a hella busy weekend.
But you know what? I've fought really hard to be able to have this weekend. That probably sounds odd. But Co-Writer and others know how tough it's been for me to get myself healthy enough (and stay healthy enough) to manage the trip and the concert. And how much I'm still having to do, all the preventative measures I'm having to take, all the last-minute changes in plans ... so dammit, I'm a bit proud of myself. If I am permitted to be.
And also, advance thanks to the friends who'll be looking after me this weekend, Co-Writer especially. He puts up with a lot more than just my subpar art on late nights, seriously. You have no idea.
Update over the weekend, of course. I think you lot will like Saturday's. That said, I rather like today's. Co-Writer doesn't put but very basic stuff in the descriptions by way of how people look and are dressed. Designing a look for a completely alien culture -- especially one where decades and centuries go by randomly -- can be pretty, erm, interesting.
Second and third panels. Yeah, I put 'bags' over their wings. Those are, if you ever find yourself caring, canvas with drawstrings at the bottom. If you're working with clay, you'll want to keep that stuff clear. Clay drying in the joints of the wings? Not so grate, akshally. Please don't ask how the backpack fits around the wings ... it's an advanced alien race and they understand many things that we don't.
And yeah, does her armoured form look familiar? Last time I drew it I was running a mad fever (why'd ya think those flashback sequences looked so cracked-out?). So it was fun to go back to that, piece out what we hadn't seen of it, and what have you. Don't worry, more art of her before too much longer. Almost required now.
I do wish I'd made a bit more of Corrilla visible -- that's my own fault, but to my credit, I hadn't realised that I'd actually have detailed ideas on her gear. I wanna muck around with her clothes at some point. I was told they should be 'a more militaristic version' of the norm here. So at some point mayhaps I can draw a bit more of it.
Last panel? No comment. That's to come.
I am babbling. This means I'm nervous. Or excited. Or something. Probably all of the above. Seriously, holy crap.
If you have been, NEVAR!

Erm, thanks to the many, many people who caught the typo as I was preparing to go to the station. I took time to fix it so my e-mail wouldn't be full of OMG U R SPELT WORNG LUL while I was gone ... so hopefully I'm not gonna be too late to board.

Train leaves from W'burg at 9.36 AM to take me on a straight shot to Baltimore. Jumpy? Yes. But I can't tell if I'm jumpy from excitement about the concert tomorrow night, general travel jitters, or all this damn tea I've been drinking.
Like why Co-Writer allowed my Brazil obsession to manifest as a major stylistic element in our comic.
