NOTE: The first part of this rant is about Gunbuster. If you haven't seen it, you're not gonna have a clue what I'm talking about, so skip ahead. All screencaps are spoilers, and white spaces in brackets are also spoilers, which you can highlight to read.

So during some of my sick-time yesterday, I felt like torturing myself, so I finished off Top wo Nerae! 2: Diebuster. I've been watching it just because. I really don't know why. Right now I'm not sure how I feel about the ending, because I really hate GAINAX right now, and not for the reasons I've been hating GAINAX.

You've gotta understand something, guys. You can't lead me through five-and-two-thirds episodes of nothing to do with anything, and then do this, this, and this. You really can't do this. Oh, and this was just dirty.

My rant about how stupid it is to try to improve on Gunbuster was, in fact, legitimate. I mean plot-legitimate. On purpose legitimate. If you had just told me early on that the series was about [a girl who idolizes Noriko and another who was created to attempt to replace her in the interim], and not an actual sequel and/or universe reset, I would have felt a little better. If you had told me that Nono's stupid-ass name [was meant to be short for 'Nonoriri,' which was a pet name for Noriko], I might not have picked on it quite as much (I still would have, but only briefly). If you'd reassured me that [the show took place 4,990 years after the original and was just a bunch of characters obsessing about Noriko and Kazumi coming home], I might even have been a bit more okay with the entire concept. Or hell, maybe they did and I was just too busy bitching to notice.

Does that make me like the show now? Well, by way of writing, character design, animation style, overall merit -- it doesn't stand up to the original (but that'd be a pretty tall order). As a stand-alone 'what if' side story?... At this point, I don't mind as much. As a part of the canon?... I honestly don't know because I'm too pissed off still at GAINAX for toying with me.

How many anime music videos will fans make to Weird Al's 'White and Nerdy' by ... oh, say, next June?

NOTA BENE: I've already found two. Well, neither is technically anime, but one is animated and the other is video game. Also, neither even close to has a concept.

First: 21-30: 17%

Third: None: 2%

I can't think today, so I'm not even going to attempt to claim money, even though I'm assured of a couple.

* 'Does it realy matter...there will be too many for us to stomach at any rate...so our opinions don't matter.': -5 for being defeatist, +10 for being right.

* 'Weird Al went to college in my town. Not that that has anything to do with the poll...': LUVVY ALARM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

* '(pi*r^2)/.01...r being the radius of the average DnD player': +25 for an actual good formula.

* 'scholars maintain that such a high number may not exist within our mere 4 dimensions, to truely comprehend the shear quantity you would literaly have to wrap your brain around a lightpost AND a mail box at the same time': +50, truth; -10, scary

* 'For (AMV=0, AMV[greaterthan]Infinity, AMV++)': +10 for another formula; it would be more if I knew it was a good one, but I'm not familiar with that.
